Theme: The uniqueness of God in the Bible.
From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible proclaims there is only one God who is alive, active, and sovereign over all creation. Unlike idols made by human hands—mute, powerless, and lifeless—the Lord declares, “I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God” (Isaiah 44:6).
The one living God is not distant. He walks with His people, speaks through His Word, and reveals His heart through covenant promises. Most fully, He has revealed Himself in the person of Jesus Christ, the exact representation of His being (Hebrews 1:3). To confess the “one living God” is not only a theological truth but a declaration of loyalty: we belong to Him alone.
Theme: The relevance of God in a modern, secular age.
Many people in our time dismiss God as an old idea, irrelevant to modern life. But the message of Scripture is that God is living. He is not a memory or myth but the Creator who sustains life moment by moment. Paul told the Athenians, “In Him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28).
Believing in the one living God changes everything:
To follow the one living God is to root life not in shifting culture but in eternal truth.
Theme: Apologetic defense of God’s reality.
The Bible often contrasts the Lord with the idols of the nations. Psalm 115 says, “Their idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see.” In other words, false gods may inspire rituals, but they cannot give life.
Only the one living God has proven His power in history—delivering Israel from Egypt, raising Jesus from the dead, and transforming lives through the Holy Spirit. Christians testify that this God answers prayer, convicts hearts, and brings forgiveness.
The difference is clear: idols demand sacrifice but give nothing in return; the living God gave His own Son so that we might have eternal life.
Theme: Practical discipleship response.
Knowing that God is alive leads us to live differently. Joshua challenged Israel: “Choose this day whom you will serve … as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
Serving the one living God means:
When believers live in light of the one living God, the world sees a testimony of His reality through our love, courage, and faith.
